Most diving accidents briefly run through the mass media, and after a short, often not very constructive discussion on diving forums, disappear into the dustbin of history. While for other activities, with let´s say the same level of safety, accidents are paid relatively much attention, when it comes to diving, people behave like they did not want them to hear. Yet it is the misfortune of others that can become a great "textbook" for experienced divers and also raised finger for too confident beginners. It was just errors of divers from the past, through which the development of techniques and knowledge of effects of staying under water on the human body moved forward.
There is ultimately prevailed view of the recent years, better prefer not to return to such events, as it is unnecessary for commercial land, for sale of other courses and licenses and can spoil the whole positive diving spirit. Anyone seeking causes of the accident is immediately labeled a tabloid hack, parasite on the suffering of family members and a host of other unflattering adjectives. A typical example is the recent accident at Wolfgangsee in Austria. Reported in several newspapers in the “Crime” section, the tragedy was only mentioned and then, without any other details or more information, disappeared. The story is quickly closed, simply another diver drowned.
