The Smiling Seahorse Will Raise a Smile on Your Face

Burma, officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, commonly shortened to Myanmar, is a popular diving destination for its pristine, untouched nature with hundreds of green islands and top rating dive sites around the Adaman sea - you will feel like in another world there. The Mergui Archipelago, located in southernmost part of Burma has remained untouched for years and offer its rare visitors rewards beyond expectations. However, the place is not by any means inaccessible; Myanmar’s waters are still reachable from Thailand and due to liveboards, many unspoiled dive sites can be discovered. Are you ready for the adventure?

Southeast Asia is a magic place. The time cruising between uninhabited secluded islands on a sapphire like blue waters will be nearly as wonderful as the time you will spend underwater. BBC called this land a lost kingdom when filming one their documentaries on Burma's wildlife and they cannot be far from reality, this land is quite unlike any place you know. Right here, the Smiling Seahorse, a local guide run and owned by French couple Camille & Franck can take you anywhere in Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) from the Similan Islands, Surin Islands to  Richelieu rock and Burma's other undiscovered pinnacles.

Camille and Franck are both very passionate divers, having dived for many years, spending their holidays exploring the underworld together and it soon became clear that liveaboards were their favorite way to dive. And it was right there (Thailand), the idea of creating their own diving company popped up in their minds whilst working in there for a few months.

After having dived several dive spots around the region and after a few days diving in Burma, Camille and Franck though this was IT - they could definitely see themselves diving there everyday for many years without getting bored of it.

To set themselves apart from the rest, Camille and Franck decided to put their efforts in creating what they as customers were looking for, an affordable liveaboard offering great diving and good personal service.

Mergui Archipelago has 800 islands and only around 20 dive sites are known so Smiling Seahorse customers are regularly offered the opportunity to explore new areas and since it all started some really amazing dive sites have been discovered. For example "The Secret Cave" has a tunnel where you can often catch sight of the sleeping 4 meters nurse sharks as well as an eagle ray which often hunt in it - quite an encounter!!!

"We sometimes have some very experienced divers onboard with over a thousand dives in every ocean and seems to have seen it all. We love when they leave telling us they felt a thrill because they managed to see something they have never seen before (like harlequin shrimps for example) or that our personal touch is worth more to them than the extra bits they had on more luxurious boats"
