Deepest Pool in the World Planned in London

An ambitious start-up entrepreneur has announced plans to build the world's deepest indoor dive centre outside of London this year. The company, that is building the world’s largest and deepest, multi-level, indoor research, training and development pool, is called Blue Abyss. Alongside, hyperbaric chambers, commercial diving and micro-gravity facilities, this even plans to be the UK and Europe’s premier marine and space research facility.

Barely a year ago we solemnly announced the opening of Y-40, the deepest swimming pool in the world near Padua in Italy. But progress is unstoppable. Now we bring great news for all British scuba divers, as an ambitious project named Blue Abyss is ready to start. The figure behind the project is John Vickers, a former IT consultant from London, who revealed his ideas on his FB profile first. The pool is set out to be 50m deep and 40m wide, holding 22,000m3 of water - five times the capacity of Y-40. It will definitely catapult the pool to the world´s giant leadership.

The Blue Abyss

Due to its size and construction it will cater for simulation facility for aerospace research and development including potential to train humans for spaceflight and also for divers and human physiology researchers – to better understand the effects of the marine and space environments on the human body and educational use to encourage our children to be more aware of the vast richness of our oceans and the vast potential of space.

Blue Abyss location was set to be Colchester, England, not far from London ... and you can help make Blue Abyss a reality too - a fundraising  campaign kicked off on CrowdFunder, a Kickstarter-like platform. You can view it here: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/blue-abyss/

Details of the various depths of the pool are shown on the plan available on the website. Check it out and follow Adrex.com for more uptades on the project.
