Kruder Siblings conquer iconic Verzasca Dam
second edition, attracted 24 of the world's best…
The upcoming film Silence about the hardest climbing route in the world will make its premiere in Riva del Garda, Italy, as well as online through live stream available for free. The event will take place on February 23 and will be completed with a unique discussion between two climbing legends, Adam Ondra and his guest Jerry Moffatt, who will meet at one stage for the first time.
The route of the same name, Silence, was climbed last September by Adam Ondra, one of the best rock climbers in the world. By climbing this unique route, Adam Ondra made a little piece of climbing history as he established the world’s first route graded 9c. It’s currently the hardest and only route of this grade in the world.
What does it take to climb the world’s first 9c? How do you train for such achievement? That and much more will be revealed in the 17-minute film directed by Bernardo Giménez which documents Adam Ondra’s journey to the successful climb. It shows what preceded the afternoon of September 3, 2017 when he “sent”, as climbers say, this project in the spectacular Hanshelleren Cave in Norway.
“Silence is located in one of the beautiful Norwegian fjords. I really like how the extreme sport achievement goes hand in hand with the peaceful and gorgeous surroundings in the film giving it a very special feel. Bernardo did a great job depicting this contrast,“ says Adam Ondra, the main protagonist, about the movie.
The film will premiere in Riva del Garda, Italy, as well as online as the whole event will be live streamed. “We wanted everyone to have a chance to enjoy the evening with us and watch the movie which is why it will be also available on YouTube for free afterwards,” explains Pavel Blažek, Adam Ondra’s manager.
Riva del Garda is not a random choice for the premiere as this small town is surrounded by amazing climbing areas. “The climbing crags in the area have played an important role in my climbing career and they have a special meaning to me. I’m glad that thanks to co-operation with Garda Trentino, it’s there where we premiere Silence,” says Adam Ondra.
