This weekend, the multi-floor underground parking “Parkhaus” in Saas-Fee, Switzerland will once again transform into a spectacular ice climbing arena to host the 3rd stage of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup. The 10-storey car park is again the main attraction that together with the ice climbing wall, built in the middle of the circular ramp, will again provide an unusual and amazing stage not only for national and international athletes but also for the viewers to witness lively atmosphere of the ice climbing scene first hand not to mention the legendary ice parties. Simply put, this is an event not to be missed.
Saas-Fee is the third of the four stages of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup 2015/16 and the first in Europe after past events already held in the United States and South Korea. The popularity of the ice-oriented events increases, already in 2022 we could see ice climbing in the Olympics. In Saas-Fee the attractiveness and the potential of this sport had been already recognized and since 2000, every Ice Climbing World Cup event has been held here. This year, the World Cup not only receives a completely redesigned speed wall but the event is part of the Ice and Sound festival, which comprehends also ice party and live music every night.
