Reunion Island – Canyon Eli 2 - 150 meters on a rope
Adrex.com is going to be your guide also to most of the world´s canyons. It is no wonder that we start right in this exotic destination, although (being French) it is actually a part of the European Union. We start with Canyon Eli, more precisely Eli 2. This canyon near the main town of St. Denis, although does not boast three-hundred meters waterfall as Trou de Fer, but even so, one of the ten best rated canyons on the island and its rappel-through is one of the most beautiful and valuable sports businesses in the area.
As most courses start at the sea level with a necessary climb, consider that high humidity and muggy path makes trip up to the canyon really hell. We were glad when we finally after almost three hours of sweaty walk got to the canyon´s entrance. We stood alone in the middle of tree forest on the edge of the 150 m high waterfall and an open mouth looked down at the beauty. Far below us from this huge waterfall wound narrow canyon sandwiched between three hundred steep cliffs covered with lush vegetation.
