Paragliding Paradise in Spain - Hills around Almunecar, Andalusia
However, it is not just Almunecar or La Herradura beaches offering both a great take-off and landing areas. You can experience a lot stronger currents also in the mountains further inland (Otivar e.g.), reaching high above 1000 meters these are easilly accessible by road and represent popular paragliding area south of Granada. And even more, Almunecar offers also 16 km beaches and many leisure possibilities for a perfect soaring and flying holiday stay.
The season here usually starts in October and lasts through the winter months – with very pleasant climate during the period. There are several flight centres with local pilots as well as an independent flight club founded in Almunecar. Adrex.com recommends services of Fly Park Almunecar Club.

In fact, it was set up by two German paragliders, Leoni and Jarda Herman, who first visited Almunecar as early as in 1982! Before moving to Spain, Leoni and Jarda were owners of the largest flight school in Germany. They have perfectly mapped the Andalusian landscape since their coming to Spain.
For those who travel solo, they can save valuable time on holiday, not wandering about to find the flight areas. Fly Park offers also a shuttle service to main flying areas.
Almunecar is a small coastal city in the Spanish autonomous region of Andalusia. It is located on the Costa Tropical in the province of Granada. You can get there from Malaga Airport by A7 Hwy in less than hour, the option is travelling from the city of Granada, which is about the same distance (80km) but a bit over an hour drive north of Almunecar.
