Where To Jump BASE ? The Fjords, You Will Hear in Norway - Kjerag
Compared with, say, aerobatic flying, Adrex team members are among those who can afford counsel. We did, do, and definitely will do BASE jump wherever possible! Therefore we feel the right and dare to advise beginners to choose Kjerag for their first memorable experience. The jump over Lysefjord with a drop from 984 m high point (3,228 ft) ensures enough “space” for your parachute opening as the mountain boasts a luxury unrivalled overhang. BASE jumpers from all over the world go there to jump off its high cliffs.
Lysebotn is a small village that serves as a base for your Kjerag BASE. The best and direct way for reaching Lysebotn is by ferry from Forsand, situated some 30km west from Stavanger airport. From Lysebotn you take a spectacular winding road (closed in winter) up to a parking area at Øygardsstølen, that has a restaurant as well as a souvenir shop. From there, it is about 2.5 to 3 hour hike, depending on how fit you are and how well you do on steep rocks (there are chains installed at certain steepest spots).
Once you get to the edge of the mountain, it opens you a magnificent view of Lysefjord and your jumping platform. Its shape ranks Kjerag BASE jumping among the best in the world. From this point, make sure to know yourself how to continue! While we wrote about enough space for your flight, the same can not be said of the Kjerag Fjord abyss landing area. Be prepared for just a few short grassy spots covered with rather big stones and rocks. No wonder many jumpers vote better to get wet and icy cold bath-way instead. We are proud to include the site into our BASE Guides and Locations. Enjoy the video and Good Luck!
