Super Frenchie's Iceland B.A.S.E Adventure

Matthias Giraud made another GoPro edit showing us the beauty and danger of B.A.S.E. jumping in the untouched and remote area of Iceland. He says it's the most beautiful place he has ever visited and feels somehow tied with that location. Matt is one of those people that have pure extreme blood circulating in his veins.

Matthias, nicknamed "Super Frenchie" is a professional skier and B.A.S.E. jumper. Coming from France (he currently lives in Oregon), growing up skiing at St Gervais-les-Bains, it was obvious he would be eventually drawn by big mountain riding. And he got hooked up immediately when he found out he could combine the two things he loved the most; skiing and BASE jumping. Most people might know him for being the first one to SKI-BASE jump off the Matterhorn in Switzerland and Mount Hood, the biggest mountain in Oregon. His life bucket list includes several other "first" descents and ski BASE jumps across the globe.

Matt after having landed a B.A.S.E jump in Iceland

One of his early remarkable acts is the one escaping purposely skimmed avalanche in France while performing a ski BASE jump with his friend Stefan Laude. We recommend you to check that "goose bump-producing" video too in case you hadn't seen it.  His latest jump took place in Austria where he and his friend Flo Orley jumped off a moving gondola in the middle of the day at the local ski area Rosshutte. With the gondola packed full of people, the two exit the cabin through an emergency hatch in the roof, got ready their BASE jumping gear and jumped off. Although Matt claims the jump had been agreed with the ski-resort director, some sources say it was illegal. Bottom line is that no property was damaged, no traces were left behind and nobody got hurt.

Now enjoy his Iceland's edit!
