The frontrunner Adriano de Souza will lead the field after an impressive start to 2015, including a win in Margaret River. For De Souze, J-Bay is a special place. He started coming here when he was 14 and he's been back every year since.
From L - R, Slade Prestwich (ZAF), Owen Wright (AUS), Jordy Smith (ZAF), Mick Fanning (AUS) and Adriano de Souza (BRA).
Defending event winner and three-time world champion Mick Fanning currently sits in fourth place on the rankings and victory at Jeffreys Bay this year will see him equal 11-time world champion Kelly Slater’s record of four wins in South Africa. It'll be interested to see whether he gets another good result this year. Fresh from Fiji Pro glory, Owen Wright’s historic performance saw him move up to third in the world after posting two perfect heats to win the event. He'll be definitely one to watch as pressure is on.
The world's best surfing will be broadcast LIVE and the event holds a competitive window of July 8 - 19, 2015, so don't miss a wave! The J-Bay Open is also the showcase event at the J-Bay Winterfest, a multi-sport and music festival in Jeffreys Bay from July 8 - 19. More details at www.jbaywinterfest.com.
