Wakeskating is a sport that is very similar to wakeboarding, however, there are some differences. Boards have no bindings and riders wear sneakers like in skateboarding. This allows them much more freedom in doing various tricks. Athletes are pulled by a tow or a winch. Thanks to the towing variability it can be performed in various places, including swimming pools. Brian Grubb tried it on the rice fields in the Philippine Islands.
Rice terraces in Banaue are inherent to the Philippines. The terraced fields on the slopes of Philippine mountains were created already two thousand years ago. Although it may seem that riding in the rice fields is against all traditions or the environment, Brian and his team from the beginning claimed to respect the local rules as a high importance. This revelatory journey to the Philippines is just the beginning. Grubb would like to organize much bigger Wakeskating action on this aesthetically perfect place.
