Libor Hruby – Hope for the Czech Republic at the Open Europeans
Unfortunately Libor was over time accompanied by seasons of bad luck. First he and his club lost a place to ski as the owner prevented them from training here. After that medical issues arose.
He has failed to be fazed and as a true warrior sought alternatives how to come to terms with unfavorable situations. Libor found his second home in the Spanish town of Sesena where he skied with Czech young gun Martin Kolman. Previously mentioned health issues had to be dealt with through surgeries.
Libor´s kickoff position for Europeans qualification battles is negatively impacted by the fact that his last surgery has only been done recently. It is clear, however, that he is motivated to capture the green light for the Europeans since he will certainly not be willing to miss the first Europeans in the Czech Republic held in Melice.
What is your current medical condition like, how did the knee surgery go and how has the rehabilitation gone?
Gradually I am stopping to feel tension in my knee and am restarting everyday life. The operation went all right and the operated on ligaments have been attached properly. Bearing in mind that already 3 days after the operation I was recommended to do a light exercise that I devoted myself to fully (better than to be bored in the bed all day J and on the three-months-after-the operation checkup I was praised that my knee is becoming fully flexible.
When can you start with the preparation on the water?
Given the fact that so far I can only ride a bicycle and do balance movements, I am planning on jumping on the water for the first time at the end of May.
Would you say a potential participation in the first-time-ever Europeans at home is one of the hallmarks of this season?
Yes. Since I am not going to attend the under 21 Europeans, if I make the team this will be one of my hallmarks of this season.
Will your friends and classmates come to support you?
No doubt about this one, this piece of information got posted all over the place J I hope many of my acquaintances and friends show up.
How was your winter preparation?
My Winter preparatory period was very limited because of the many-times mentioned knee surgery and this contributed to me concentrating more on upper body.
What performances would you like to achieve this year?
Finally jump over 50 metres, break a two-year long curse with the 12m rope length in slalom and tricks? Who knows.
Your imput about just how much of chances does the Czech team have?
With Adam Sedlmajer and Martin Kolman in the lead I think the chances are fair.
How do you see your chances regarding making the team and maybe succeeding here?
These questions are a big unknown to me. Finally, I can do nothing but hope that my former injury will not limit me. That is why I cannot provide you with any clearer response, sorry.
What would you like us to tell us the spectators, fans and public who would like to attend the event?
First things first. Let me thank them that they will drop by to have a look and I hope that if the turnout is high, we could create a beautiful atmosphere and environment for Czech skiers.
