White Water Rafting in Nepal
At the foot of the Himalayan Mountains, Nepal is blessed with an amazing diversity of rivers. Simply put, people there live in a white water enthusiast’s paradise with an awesome variety of white water rafting adventures to tempt any type of traveler. From convenient ½ day excursions to full on 12 day river expeditions, the possibilities are wide. In fact, with so many river options, you can dramatically cut down on the need for bus travel in Nepal, as waterways can connect you to and from many of Nepal’s most popular destinations.
Adrex.com is going to introduce most of Nepal´s rivers gradually. Today we start with 2 rivers for a short 2-3 day trips. Next time we´ll be back with more.
Lower Seti River
This unique river passes through two beautiful and contrasting scenic areas offering a good variety of Nepali landscapes with local villages, terraced rice fields, waterfalls, jungle corridor and a beautiful white sandy beach for camping under the stars. With relatively small water volume and a very pleasant warm water temperature this river is a great introduction to white water adventure, perfect for families, first timers or those interested in learning white water kayaking. The Lower Seti River finishes near the Chitwan National Park, making it a great way to get off the beaten track, avoid the bus and enjoy the peaceful life along the river as you float your way to one of Nepal’s most famous adventure destinations. If you are looking for a gentle river adventure or simply want to avoid the bus from Pokhara to Chitwan, then this is the perfect trip for you.
Trisuli River
Originating from the Langtang Himal, a trip on the Trisuli River enjoys scenic valleys, terraced rice fields, and impressive gorges with exciting but not overly challenging white water rapids. Conveniently running from just outside Kathmandu towards Chitwan and Pokhara, the Trisuli is one of Nepal’s most popular rivers, providing the option to travel by refreshing river instead of sitting on the bus towards two of Nepal’s most popular adventure destinations. Additionally the convenience of running alongside the main highway, offers the opportunity to select whichever section of the river is best for your needs depending on your experience. If you are short on time or simply interested in a bit of river fun and a trip which provides the convenience of getting you out of Kathmandu and on to your next travel destination – then this is the perfect choice. Start in either Kathmandu or Pokhara and continue to either Kathmandu, Pokhara or Chitwan.
They have rivers and routes for both seasoned paddlers and beginners who have never been in white water before. Whether you are looking for a scenic float down the river or an adrenaline charged white water rafting, kayaking or canyoning adventure, Adrex.com recommends Paddle Nepal as the best choice in Nepal.
